fq070517-02 - Can the Sector Size of the SCSI E-Disk® Drives be Changed to a Particular Value Such as 256 or 1024 Bytes?
QUESTION:
Can the sector size of the SCSI E-Disk® SCSI drives be changed to a particular value such as 256 or 1024 bytes?
ANSWER:
Yes, the SCSI E-Disk® drives’ sector size can be changed. However, it should be aligned to 512 bytes (i.e. 512, 1024, 2048, 4096, etc.) This can be achieved using the SCSI Mode Select command.
Note: Setting the sector size to 256 bytes and other values that are not aligned to 512 bytes is not yet supported on the current generation of E-Disk® SCSI products. The next generation E-Disk® AltimaTM drives can support sizes from 504 bytes to 16 Kbytes with increments of 4 bytes. The feature will be available for all supported storage interfaces.
