tk040429-01 - How Do You Change the SCSI ID of the E-Disk® Transit?

QUESTION:

How do you change the SCSI ID of the E-Disk Transit?

ANSWER:

To change the SCSI ID of the E-Disk Transit:

1. Remove the bay by unlocking the knob located on the right side.

2. Once the bay has been removed, on the left hand side of the receiver frame, you will see a switch with a number or letter displayed. This code, the SCSI ID, is user-configurable and must be unique for each device on the bus. SCSI ID numbers for narrow ("8-bit") devices range from 0 to 7. Wide SCSI allows up to 16 device IDs, from 0 through 15 (0 to F if you are counting in hexadecimal). ID 7 is usually assigned to the controller.

When you have chosen the desired SCSI ID of the E-Disk , select it using the pushwheel rotary switch on the receiver frame. Pushing the "+" button at the bottom of the switch increments the SCSI ID. Pressing the "-" button at the top of the switch decrements the ID. The ID switch on the SCSI Wide version of the receiver uses the single hexadecimal digits A through F to represent IDs 10 through 15, respectively.

3. Return the bay back into position and lock it. After power up, verify that the desired SCSI ID is as shown in the BIOS section for SCSI configuration.
