New Line of E-Disks® Exceeds Boundaries in Flash Drive Solid State HDD Storage Technology
FREMONT, California -- Jan. 14, 1999 -- BiT Microsystems, Inc. today announced another major breakthrough in performance of flash drive and solid state HDD storage solutions.
The Fast SCSI E-Disk
® SFX35, the newest addition to BiTMICRO's Electronic Disk™ product line, is now the fastest 8-bit SCSI-2 flash drive and solid state hard disk drive storage device in the world, exceeding all other flashdrive storage systems in the market. The SFX35 is also the first Fast SCSI-2 in the standard 3.5" form factor with 9728 MBytes of nonvolatile solid state disk storage.
Responding to increased market demands, BiTMICRO
® doubled the performance of its previous flash drive and solid state HDD product, the electronic disk SNX35, with EDisk patented FlashBus™ technology. The SFX35 version boasts 10 MBytes/sec burst read and write transfer rates, and delivers greater than 9 MBytes/sec sustained read and write transfer rates. This solid state flash drive has less than 0.1 ms flash access time and less than 0.5 ms system access time, breaking their previous industry record.
The SFX35 EDisk all-electronic flash drive and solid state hard disk drive storage solution requires no installable device drivers and contains no moving parts. This solid state flashdisk offers 128 to 9728 MBytes of solid state storage capacity. An industrial version operates at -40 to +85 degrees C under extremely demanding environmental conditions.
"Demands for storage devices with higher bandwidth continue to increase at an astounding pace. Previously, flash drive technology was used primarily in industrial applications. Now it is becoming a requirement in many commercial applications. To meet these demands, we will continue to deliver products that will narrow the performance gap between processor and storage," says R. H. Bruce, president and founder of BiT Microsystems.
BiTMICRO's solid state flash drive technology now provides solutions for storing and protecting data on large and small-scale enterprise systems. Their new line of EDisks all electronic disk gives customers a higher degree of systems availability and fewer network bottlenecks resulting in increased productivity and cost savings over time.
Besides industrial and military applications, EDisk flash drive solid state HDD storage is well suited for performance sensitive markets such as 'hotfiles', multimedia, networking, server, e-commerce, data warehousing, and Internet service providers.
