Enhanced Low-Cost E-Disk® SNX35 is World's First 13,312 MBytes Flash Disk Drive and solid state HDD Solutions in 3.5 inch Form Factor with Unmatched Performance and Reliability
FREMONT, California -- Sep. 14, 1999 -- Addressing the growing demand for higher capacity solid state HDD and flash disk drive storage solutions, BiT Microsystems today announced the availability of the enhanced solid state HDD flash disk drive E-Disk
® SNX35 product line with up to unprecedented 13,312 MBytes capacity record in a half-height 3.5-inch form factor.
With sustained read/write transfer rate of over 4.5 MBytes/sec, the E-Disk
® SNX35 SCSI Normal solid state HDD flash disk drive is 2 times faster than the closest competitor. In addition, SNX35 system access time has been enhanced to less than 0.7 msec, which is over 7 times faster than the fastest SCSI flashdisk drive and solid state hard disk drive storage competitor.
Confidence on the reliability, flexibility, and manageability of electronic disk SNX35 EDisk
® is expressed by users from various industries worldwide including telecommunications, transportation, networking, medical devices, robotics, industrial automation, aviation, aerospace, government, and military applications.
SNX35 electronic disk also incorporates an array of features making it an exceptional value for all businesses engaged in mission critical operations.
With no moving parts and robust sandwiched all electronic construction, SNX35 EDisk
® raises the reliability and data integrity standards of high capacity solid state storage solutions to new frontiers of severe operating conditions and harsh environment of extreme shocks, vibrations, and temperatures.
In contrast to the inherently volatile DRAM-based solid state hard disk drive solutions, the non-volatile flash disk drive EDisk does not need battery backup, redundant power supplies, nor backup hard disk drives to retain data when power is shut down.
Even with the whopping 13,312 MBytes of storage capacity, the improved all electronic disk SNX35 consumes a scant 3 watts of power during read/write operations, less than 0.7 watts during standby and less than 0.3 watts during sleep mode.
Without UPS, other storage devices have problems with registry/file/FAT corruption when powering down ungracefully to varying degrees. To resolve this failure mode, the new elctronic disk SNX35 EDisks are fitted with multiple voltage sensors that detect impending power loss and proven firmware utilities that protect data in-process from being lost or corrupted during brown-outs and other instances of ungraceful power shutdowns.
The electronic disk SNX35 plug and play, built-in diagnostics, and universal field upgradeable firmware design features simplify the integration, field support, and overall storage management activities. Updated firmware can be downloaded through the Internet, without requiring the user to send the product in for an upgrade.
"Surely we will continue to build our reputation as the best flashdisk and solid state hard disk drive storage solutions pioneer and manufacturer by never losing sight of customer satisfaction. SNX35 will help us achieve that goal," said R.H. Bruce, president of BiT Microsystems, Inc.
