E-Disk® SUW35's 18.6 GBytes Capacity in 3.5-Inch and Fast Access of 0.049 ms Rivals DRAM-Based Ultra Wide SCSI solid state Disk Performance
FREMONT, California -- May 15, 2000 -- BiTMICRO Networks, Inc., the world's premier supplier of the high-end flash-based nonvolatile solid state disk, today announced the release of its first generation E-Disk® product line flagship -- the E-Disk® SUW35. The SUW35 storage capacity in 3.5-inch form factor ranges from 256 MBytes to 18.6 GBytes.
Chief among E-Disk® SUW35 advantages is the high I/O performance. Unlike conventional electro-mechanical disk drives whose random access is diminished by head motion and rotational latencies, the SUW35 fast access time is just 0.049 milliseconds. Additionally, the new SUW35 increases the burst and SUSTAINED read and write transfer rates to 40 MBytes/sec and 34 MBytes/sec respectively. These record-breaking performances are maintained independent of whether requests for data are random or sequential.
"We have incorporated features only available in enterprise class storage systems through integration of our patented techniques," said Dave Bultman, BiTMICRO's vice president of engineering. "This product is ideal as a front end storage device where its high performance, non-volatility, instant access, shock insensitivity, and power cycle robustness are systems' requirements," added Bultman.
"As data storage requirements grow in size and complexity, storage becomes more than just strategy to our customers; it's the life-line business critical," said Ricky Bruce, chief technology officer of BiTMICRO®. "E-Disk® is playing significant role in mission-critical applications such as networking, brokerage, portals, data warehousing, finance, Internet, e-commerce, video, film editing, servers, defense, and aerospace."
Implementation of the SUW35 by the IT community is a technological paradigm shift to flash disk storage solution, as opposed to the bulky and power-hungry DRAM-based solid state disk drive solution. SUW35 also addresses the new threshold for price and performance ratio of the cost-sensitive IT market.
"Our E-Disk® offers customers the highest combination of flexibility and investment protection with excellent BiTMICRO® Networks technical support for their storage solutions. We are pleased to provide competitively priced E-Disk® products that address the most demanding data storage needs," added Amy Feldman of marketing and sales.
