FREMONT, California -- Apr. 15, 2002 -- BiTMICRO Networks, Inc., announced today the selection of their SCSI E-Disk^® solid state drive solutions for the airborne version of POLDER instrument first developed by Laboratoire d'Optique Atmosphérique (LOA, France) and ported to space by Centre National d'Etudes Spatiales (CNES). The airborne version of POLDER will be used in an international experiment to be conducted by National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) with the support of CNES.

France conceived POLDER, the first space imaging polarimeter, to observe the interactions between radiation, clouds and aerosols and its impact on Earth's 'greenhouse effect'. The 'greenhouse effect' is a natural phenomenon which traps heat in the lower layers of the atmosphere and ensures that the Earth's surface will have a temperature appropriate for the development and maintenance of life.
