BiTMICRO® Introduces World's First and Fastest UDMA Solid State Disk Storage

E-Disk A33 ATA/IDE Flash Disk Drive is Ideal for High Performance and Availability, as well as for Embedded, Military, Aerospace, Industrial and Mission Critical Applications; Offered in 2.5-inch and 3.5-inch Footprints with Capacity of up to 77 GB

FREMONT, California -- Apr. 22, 2002 -- BiTMICRO Networks, Inc., a premier supplier of high performance solid state flash disk drive storage devices and storage management solutions, outlined today the company's strategy for extending its ATA/IDE flash disk drive offering with the first release of its E-Disk UDMA series. The new line of UDMA E-Disks is being offered and developed to give customers the flexibility to choose the best ATA/IDE solid state storage solution for their own design.

BiTMICRO's initial UDMA flash disk drive series offering, E-Disk 2A33 and E-Disk 3A33, are the first in the industry. The UDMA 33 E-Disks support PIO Modes 0, 1, 2, 3, and 4 and UDMA Modes 0, 1, and 2. They have a burst rate of 33.3 MB/sec and a sustained random read/write rate of greater than 22 MB/sec. By eliminating seek time, latency and other electro-mechanical delays inherent in conventional hard disk drives, E-Disk 2A33 and E-Disk 3A33 have a random access time of less than 0.1 millisecond.

The UDMA E-Disks are high capacity flash disk drives available in a variety of sizes. Starting with 128 MB in capacity, the slim 2.5-inch E-Disks are offered with maximum capacities of 1024 MB, 5120 MB, 9216 MB, 13312 MB and 17408 MB in 8.5 mm, 12.6 mm, 16.7 mm, 20.8 mm and 24.9 mm respectively. The 3.5-inch come with maximum capacities of 4096 MB, 12288 MB, 20480 MB, 28672 MB, 36864 MB, 45056 MB, 53248 MB, 61440 MB, 69632 MB and 77824 MB in 13.1 mm, 17.2 mm, 21.2 mm, 25.4 mm, 29.8 mm, 33.9 mm, 38.1 mm, 42.2 mm, 46.3 mm and 50.4 mm respectively.

Their dynamic, high performance data storage that allows critical information to be always on, continuously available, and fully secure, is supported by a self-monitoring, self-healing, and dynamically provisioned storage that makes E-Disks well suited for mission critical applications. BiTMICRO's patented dynamic wear leveling algorithm provides enhanced endurance and maximum data integrity that contributes to E-Disks' outstanding performance.

Telecommunications, military, aerospace, manufacturing automation, oil pipeline monitoring, highly available computing, and other industrial applications that require reliable compact storage can benefit even more from BiTMICRO's new line of ATA/IDE flash disk drives. With higher data rates, they also operate dependably in adverse environments including unstable and ungraceful power degradations, high altitude and extreme shocks, vibrations and temperatures.

"Our success in the solid state storage marketplace is a reflection our customers' satisfaction and their trust in our 'best-in-class' products. It shows our staff's dedication in delivering and supporting the needs of our customers," commented Rudy Bruce, BiTMICRO's President. "We will continue to strengthen our position in providing real value to our clients as we help them address critical challenges, to meet ongoing technology advances and the needs of their own customers. Their success is our success."

The E-Disk flash disk drive product family is a 'plug and play' solution that has been tested on all major platforms. The E-Disk is fully compatible with Linux, Solaris, Windows, MacOS and LynxOS. Other supported operating systems include, but is not limited to: AIX, FreeBSD, HP-UX, IRIX, NetBSD, OS/2, QNX, VxWorks, SCO Unixware and Open Server, Solaris X86, and Tru64.
