Aerospace and avionics applications, such as data recorders / data acquisition / data loggers, etc., typically use the DAS architecture and require a small form factor, ruggedness, significant reliability and performance standards, and the ability to withstand extreme temperatures, vibration and altitudes.

Solid state disks are usually designed into military ruggedized cockpit voice and data recorders that need to withstand impact and ensure survivability.

Flash solid state disks are currently the only viable product available to these applications. Some other examples are: air transports such as airplanes, helicopters, weather balloons, NASA spacecraft; water transports such as ships, and high-speed sea craft.

In addition to having higher performance, the desired small form factor, reliability, and ruggedness, our E-Disk^® Altima™ solid state drive offers additional security and data protection features required by these applications, particulary solid state data recorders, that are not offered by any other supplier.
